Destination Configuration for Salesforce Importer

Jira Connection Configuration

Our application leverages Jira Rest API for programmatic access while updating Object Schema, Object Type, and Attribute configurations of JSM Assets.

You need help from a Jira Administrator for the steps on this page.

In addition, you can use the Current Site option to connect to current site. However, if you do require to connect to an external site, please follow the steps below.

  1. Create a Jira Admin User to be used in the application (e.g. jira_bot@example.com)

  2. Ensure the user has a JSM Agent License.

  3. Login with the bot user and create an API Token (How to…)

  4. Under Destination Tab, select External Site.

  5. Enter the User Email (e.g. jira_bot@example.com) and Jira API Token in the Jira Connection Settings.

  6. The Jira Service Management Site Name is the first part of your Jira Cloud URL.

  • Example: If your base URL is https://site-name.atlassian.net Please just enter your "site-name".

  1. Click "Save & Check Connection" to verify the setup.

Schema Selection Configuration

You have two options in this section:

  1. Create a new Object Schema

  2. Use an existing Object Schema

Pro tip: We recommend creating a new Object Schema to store Salesforce related data separately. This allows you to assign roles only to necessary users or groups. Since the imported data includes personal information, ensure compliance with your organization’s data policies.

Option 1: Create a New Object Schema

Fill in the following fields:

Object Schema Name: Salesforce

Object Schema Key: SAL

Description: Auto-generated Salesforce data.

Then, click "Create Object Schema" to proceed.

Please Note: The links to the new schema will be shown above the configuration, just below the Schema Selection Configuration Heading.

Option 2: Use an Existing Object Schema

  1. Select an Existing Object Schema.

  2. Click "Use Existing Object Schema" to continue.

If the selected schema already contains the same Object Types, you will be notified and required to update them before moving forward.

Pro tip: Either you chose Option 1 or 2, make sure that you remove the default values from the Object Schema Roles menu. It should look like the following.

Then, only add the relevant users, groups, or apps.

Import Token Configuration

To import a large amount of data into JSM Assets, you need to generate a key that securely authorizes the data transfer (more info).
Please add the Import Token for your External Import configuration in Assets.

  1. Click on the Go to Schema Import Page link and configure the import configuration. (You may find it in the Schema Selection Configuration section.)

  1. Navigate to the "Import" tab and click "Create Import" to begin the setup.

  1. Select "External Import" and click "Next".

  1. Enter a Name and Description.

Name: Salesforce (CRM) Importer for JSM Assets

Description: Data is imported from Salesforce CRM automatically.
