Advanced Import Settings

Advanced Import Settings

The Advanced Import Settings section lets you tune how the Salesforce (CRM) Importer fetches data from Salesforce. These two settings control the volume and pacing of API calls and are the primary levers for managing https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.salesforce_app_limits_cheatsheet.meta/salesforce_app_limits_cheatsheet/salesforce_app_limits_platform_api.htm on large data sets.

These settings are found under the Admin tab → Import Settings. Changes take effect on the next import run.

Page Limit

Controls how many Salesforce records are fetched per API request (per page).

Minimum

100 records

Maximum

2,000 records

Default

500 records

A higher page limit means fewer API calls for the same data set, which speeds up the import. However, very large pages consume more memory per request. For most organisations, the default of 500 is a safe starting point.

Batch Delay

Controls the pause (in seconds) inserted between consecutive API page requests.

Minimum

1 second

Maximum

120 seconds

Default

6 seconds

Adding a delay between pages reduces the risk of hitting Salesforce API rate limits during large imports. If your Salesforce org has a high API call volume from other integrations, increasing the batch delay gives those calls headroom.

Tuning Guide

Use the table below as a starting point. Adjust based on your Salesforce API limit headroom and the urgency of your sync.

Scenario

Page Limit

Batch Delay

Notes

Scenario

Page Limit

Batch Delay

Notes

Small data set (< 5,000 records)

500 (default)

6 s (default)

Defaults work well

Medium data set (5,000–50,000 records)

1,000

10–15 s

Fewer calls, gentle pacing

Large data set (50,000+ records)

1,000–2,000

20–30 s

Protect API governor limits

Shared Salesforce org (high API contention)

500

30–60 s

Leave room for other integrations

Rule of thumb: add approximately 10 seconds of batch delay for every additional 100 records above the 500-record default page size. For example, a 1,000-record page size pairs well with a ~56-second delay.

When to Change These Settings

  • You see API rate limit errors in the Debug Log — increase Batch Delay and/or reduce Page Limit.

  • Imports are running slowly and your Salesforce org has API headroom — increase Page Limit to reduce the total number of calls.

  • You are running HOURLY syncs on a large data set — keep Page Limit high (1,000+) and Batch Delay moderate (10–20 s) to complete the sync within the hour window.
