Creating References
Of course, we know that you need to create references.
Atlassian designed the external import module differently from the CSV import module. It is as flexible as the CSV or JSON import is.
This part is outside our support scope, and we haven’t tried it. But you may give it a go:
Create the object type with text attributes via our application, as explained on: Source Configuration of Database Importer for JSM Assets
Once you complete the Source and Destination steps
Don’t import any data immediately. Complete step 1, but don’t run the test import as explained on the following page: Import Configuration of Database Importer for JSM Assets
Open the schema, select your object type, and click the attribute menu.
Find the attribute that you would like to create a reference.
Change the attribute type from text to object and map it to the object type you like.
Go to the schema settings, select the Import tab, and select the import configuration.
Edit mapping and expand the settings. Try to set the Advanced mappings AQL for the attribute.
Then continue with Step 2 on the following page: Import Configuration of Database Importer for JSM Assets | 2. Test Import
We cannot guarantee that it will work for all cases, but assets are being updated frequently nowadays. In theory, it could work.
Good luck
